This intensive two-week course is designed to provide students with foundational skills in painting and decorating. Students will learn about essential tools and materials, surface preparation techniques, and paint mixing and color theory. The course will cover practical skills such as application techniques for paints and finishes, wallpapering, and decorative painting. Safety practices in painting will also be emphasized to ensure a secure working environment.

Week 1: Introduction and Preparation

  • Understanding different types of paints, finishes, and materials used in decorating.
• Surface Preparation Techniques
  • Techniques for preparing various surfaces for painting.
  • Cleaning, sanding, and priming surfaces to ensure a smooth finish.
• Paint Mixing and Color Theory
  • Basics of mixing paints to achieve desired colors.
  • Understanding color theory and how to use it in decorating.

Week 2: Application and Safety

• Application Techniques for Paints and Finishes
  • Techniques for applying paint using brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
  • Best practices for achieving an even and professional finish.
• Wallpapering Techniques
  • Step-by-step guide to applying wallpaper.
  • Ensuring proper alignment and avoiding bubbles and wrinkles.
• Decorative Painting Techniques
  • Advanced techniques for decorative finishes such as faux painting and stenciling.

Training Time:

• Duration: 2 weeks
• Daily Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Requirements:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of construction concepts is beneficial but not required.
